Devastated family of man killed in axe attack by schizophrenic cousin want answers

The family of a man killed by his cousin - who was suffering with severe mental ill-health - want answers over the axe attacker's care prior to the tragedy.

Ryan Lowry's loved ones there were 'collective failings' and a 'complete lack of joined-up thinking between agencies' in the 'care and supervision' of Ashley Rowen.

Mr Lowry, 36, died after Rowen, then 31, chased him down the street and struck him 13 times with an axe on Moss Lane in Partington, Trafford in February, 2020.

Tree surgeon Rowen, also known as Ashley Glennon, had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on account of diminished responsibility and was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in January 2021.
