Several staff members at burger chain Almost Famous claim they discovered they had lost their jobs on social media after missing a Whatsapp message on the morning the closure was announced.
The restaurants, which had sites in Manchester city centre, Liverpool and Leeds, issued a heartbreaking statement on Monday (January 27), with bosses announcing the venues would be closing down with immediate effect.
Explaining the reason for the closure of the brand after 13 years, co-founder Beau Myers cited the current economic climate and 'lingering debt'.
However some staff members working for the firm said they were unaware the business was shutting down, and claimed they first realised they had lost their jobs after seeing social media posts and reading articles online on Monday morning (January 28).
