Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old boy was shot in south Manchester. The teen is in hospital following the shooting on Salutation Street in Hulme on Wednesday night.
Police say his injuries are 'not thought to be life threatening'. Five minutes earlier a 19-year-old man was seriously injured in what's believed to be stabbing about half a mile away on Avenham Close. A 14-year-old boy arrested in connection with both attacks has been released on bail pending further investigation. Det Supt David Meeney of GMP’s City of Manchester district said: "I would like to reassure the community in Hulme that we are continuing our enquiries in regard to both of these incidents and leaving no stone unturned.
We fully understand that the local community are shocked by these incidents and as a result will continue to provide visible reassurance the area in the form of on-foot patrol officers, vehicle patrols and covert patrols. "Greater Manchester Police will not tolerate violence of any form and we will continue to work together with partners to achieve this.
