‘Descendants 5’ A Go: Kylie Cantrall & Malia Baker Return, Liamani Segura & Kiara Romero Among New Cast Additions

The fifth Descendants movie has been formally greenlighted, with production set to begin shortly. Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker will reprise their roles as Princesses Red and Chloe, the daughters of the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella, respectively, in the new installment of the Disney Channel/Disney+ musical fantasy movie franchise about the teenage progeny of Disney’s most iconic characters and villains.

In addition to Cantrall and Baker, Leonardo Nam returns as Mad Hatter’s son, Maddox Hatter in the new film, set primarily in present-day Wonderland.

New descendants to the Disney Branded Television franchise include actor-singer Liamani Segura (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Red’s sister Pink; Brendon Tremblay (Altar) as Mad Hatter’s other son, Max Hatter; Alexandro Byrd (The Legend of Juan Jose Mundo) as Luisa Madrigal’s son Luis Madrigal; and Kiara Romero (The J Team, Drowning) as Captain Cook’s daughter Hazel Hook.

Picking up shortly after the events of the 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red, the yet-untitled next chapter explores what “happily ever after” is really like for Red and Chloe following their return from their time-traveling adventures and delves into the warning at the end of The Rise of Red, “There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.” Kimmy Gatewood (The Baby-sitter’s Club) is set to direct from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella) and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer (Descendants: The Rise of Red).
