Denise Welch says her struggle with postnatal depression made her lose "the ability" to love her firstborn, Matty Healy. Matty, who is the lead singer of one of this year's Glastonbury headliners The 1975, is Denise's eldest son from her previous marriage to Tim Healy.
Speaking on the Loose Women podcast, Denise, 66, reminisced about being "the typical blooming mum" during pregnancy, who had no anxiety about becoming a mother.
She went on to say that while she bonded "immediately" with Matty, now 35, after a gruelling 42-hour labour, her emotional state spiralled out of control just five days later.
Denise explained: "I was going through the emotions of smiling, and I went to bed that night and I had the first panic attack I'd ever had in my entire life, from nowhere.
