Dundee United are closing in on a deal for Declan Gallagher. United have agreed a fee with St Mirren and are on the verge of thrashing out a deal with the Scotland international.
Jim Goodwin previously worked with Gallagher when he was at Aberdeen. Ironically, he sold him to St Mirren last summer. Goodwin admitted that he was closing in on a central defender and was looking to seal the deal before the weekend friendly with Carlisle.
Gallagher had interest from India and other clubs in Scotland but was keen on a return to Tayside for family reasons. The 32-year-old will bring experience to the United squad and their push for an immediate return to the Premiership.
Gallagher brings a wealth of experience and previously had a spell across the road at Dundee. He also had a successful stint at Livingston and kicked on at Motherwell, where he won his international recognition.
