Comedian Greg Davies returns as the tough to impress Taskmaster for a very special one-off episode as five new contestants compete to win a golden statue of Greg’s eyebrows.
Star of Dragon’s Den, Deborah Meaden is one of the competitors put to the test in the bid to claim epic bragging rights as the Taskmaster’s New Year Treat Champion. “I’m such a fan of Taskmaster,” confesses Deborah. “It’s the only show, apart from Dragon’s Den, that Paul [Meaden, Deborah’s husband] and I will try to stay in for the night to watch.
I was a bit worried that doing it might lose the magic, but it didn’t.” Alongside Deborah and facing tasks created by Alex Horne, is music artist Kojey Radical, BAFTA winning actor Lenny Rush, wildlife expert Steve Backshall and presenter Zoe Ball. “I got really, really competitive,” confesses Deborah. “But actually, when we all came together, it was actually a really lovely group. There’s one task in particular that shows the difference between the generations.” Deborah remains tightlipped about the tasks but confesses that one left a bad taste in her mouth. “I’m probably never going to eat a poppadom again,” she reveals.
Greg is the man to impress if you want to win the show, and Deborah says unfortunately, she didn’t get off on the right foot with him. “So I had done a show with Greg when I first started on Dragon’s Den many years ago,” she says. “So I knew we had met before, but what I had forgotten and Greg had remembered is that he pitched me an idea and I turned him down.
