At the DC Friday press conference, the studio division’s co-chiefs Peter Safran and James Gunn were asked to comment on the axing of Warner Bros.
Global Marketing Czar Josh Goldstine and how that might impact affairs moving forward. Weeks after Warner Bros launched the studio’s most viewed trailer of all-time with Gunn’s Superman to 250M views, Goldstine was shockingly shown the door.
At the same time, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav has a Superman promotional blitzkrieg in the works, one similar to what the studio executed with Barbie across various silos of the conglom including plugs on Food Network and HGTV, those efforts yielding the studio’s highest grossing movie of all-time with $1.44 billion worldwide.
Said Safran, “Well, I would say that it was a decision that Mike and Pam felt was the best. But for us, we work incredibly close with (new marketing heads) Christian (Davin), Dana (Nussbaum) and John Stanford who are all incredibly talented.
