Neil Lennon

Neil Francis Lennon (born 25 June 1971) is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is the manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. During his playing career he represented English clubs Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra and Leicester City.

Lennon moved to Scottish club Celtic in 2000, where he made over 200 appearances and was appointed captain in 2005. Before retiring as a player, he returned to England and played for Nottingham Forest and Wycombe Wanderers. Lennon made 40 appearances for Northern Ireland in nine years, scoring two goals. Lennon was appointed manager of Celtic in March 2010, initially in a caretaker capacity after the departure of Tony Mowbray.

Former Bolton skipper David Wheater believes Phil Parkinson was the best Wanderers manager he played for during his time there and would consider a returning to his former side, even if they end up in League Two.

The defender joined Bolton in 2011 from Middlesbrough after coming through the ranks at the Riverside. The 33-year-old remained with Wanderers for much of the following decade which spanned playing in the Premier League, Championship and League One.

During that time, Wheater turned out more than 230 times for Wanderers and scored 16 goals. His spell at the club over eight-and-a-half seasons saw him work under Owen Coyle, Dougie Freedman, Neil Lennon and Phil Parkinson as managers.
