Lee Johnson can’t promise David Marshall he’ll start the new season as Hibs’ No.1 – even though he’s dubbed him “world class”.
Johnson bolstered his options between the sticks by adding former Charlton and Swindon shotstopper Jojo Wollacott and giant Polish keeper Max Boruc to his ranks.
However the Easter Road boss insists his captain hasn’t got in a flap over the arrival of the two new boys. And he reckons the added competition will bring the best out of the 47-times-capped former Scotland hero.
Questions were asked of Marshall in the second half of last season after his normally rock solid consistency levels took a dip.But Johnson still reckons he has a top operator among his options as he counts down the days to the start of the season with a Conference League second round qualifier against either Vikingur or Inter Club d’Escaldes in Leith on July 27.
