David Beckham’s Inter Miami could face sanctions after a Major League Soccer investigation concluded they violated budget rules to sign France World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi.Matuidi joined the MLS outfit from Juventus back in August of last year, but upon arrival he was not confirmed to be one of the three Designated Players on their roster due to the size of his salary.Instead, Miami listed the midfielder as a Targeted Allocation Money player, which allowed them to use their three Designated Player slots for Gonzalo Higuain, Rodolfo Pizarro and Matias Pellegrini.The Designated Player Rule allows certain players’ wages to not count towards the MLS salary cap.It was first introduced to facilitate Beckham’s move from Real Madrid to LA Galaxy.
