But in doing so, the £6million front-man clashed heads with Saints defender Liam Gordon and was forced off after just 16 minutes.
Danilo was taken straight to hospital to go under the knife. The former Feyenoord ace will now miss the Europa League opener against Real Betis at Ibrox on Thursday night and could face a lengthy spell out.But Rangers team-mate Raskin insisted last night that Danilo has the character to come back strong.
