Daniel Stendel has thrown down the gauntlet to the Hearts young squad to force their way into his first team when football finally emerges from the coronavirus crisis.
The German is eager to have more home grown gems in his side at Tynecastle - with starlets including Euan Henderson, Harry Cochrane and Anthony McDonald having emerged in recent seasons.
But Stendel won’t be hasty in throwing the Jambos young stars into the cut and thrust of Premiership action until they prove they are better than anyone else in their position.
Cochrane made a stunning breakthrough as a 16-year-old schoolboy, scoring his first goal in a 4-0 rout of Celtic three years ago.
