Dancing On Ice star Colin Grafton has opened up on the heartbreaking loss of his grandfather. The professional skater was partnered with The Vivienne on the ITV ice skating show earlier this year, with the couple finishing the show in third place.
In a new interview, Colin shared about losing his grandfather from Alzheimer’s as a teenager and how it affected him and his family.
Colin’s grandfather died aged 70 in 2010, just three years after being diagnosed with the disease. The star said he first noticed his grandfather’s symptoms when they were driving in the car and “all of a sudden we were driving on the wrong side of the road." Speaking to Express.co.uk, he said: "Like any family, it was tough on all of us, for sure.
I think once we had the diagnosis and what I think was unique about my grandfather he saw things. He came to terms with it. Like, 'I think something is wrong here.'" "Of course, there is no easy way of putting it but it was really hard to watch at times. "But I think the priority for my family was to make him as comfortable as possible.
