'Daddy's killed mummy.' These were the chilling words uttered by a four-year-old boy after watching his dad murder his mum at their home in Droylsden, 13 years ago.
Ian Lowe smashed his way into the house on Mellor Street and stabbed Leanne McNuff, 24, to death in front of their child. Leanne's brother Ryan, who lived next door with their mum Margaret, immediately ran over after hearing a 'massive bang' to find the door 'off its hinges' and his sister on the landing in a pool of blood.
His nephew was crying and screaming 'daddy's killed mummy.' Later that year, the 25-year-old ex-soldier, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was sentenced to life in prison.
Leanne's traumatised family were left to pick up the pieces with Margaret taking custody of the child before Ryan and his partner Sian took him in in 2019.
