A dad a jury has heard fatally ran over his three-year-old son in a defective farm vehicle told his trial it was a 'tragic accident', adding: "One bit of human error...
has ruined my life." Albie Speakman suffered catastrophic head injuries after his dad Neil Speakman, 39, reversed a telehandler into him in Bury, Greater Manchester, on July 16 2022, jurors were previously told.
The tragic incident happened in a yard next to a small garden area at the front of the farmhouse on Bentley Hall Road, Walshaw, the trial has heard.
Mr Speakman, jurors have been told, had left Albie to play with the family's two dogs. The prosecution alleges the telehandler, used to pick up wood chippings, was 'defective' and that Albie died 'as a result of his father's negligence which created a serious and obvious risk of death'.
