A dad has been praised after bucking wedding tradition and refusing to help pay for his daughter's big day. The 29-year-old bride-to-be and her father, 55, have had a strained relationship since he and his wife broke up a decade previously.Although they were not close, they would catch up occasionally but the dad had yet to meet her fiancé.

I was an involved dad when she was young and we were close. But when she was in her teens I cheated on her mother. "My daughter didn't accept the divorce well.
