A father has been charged after allegedly abandoning his baby in a car for 10 hours. The toddler, who is 10 months old, was reportedly left to fend for herself in the middle of the night after the dad 'couldn't remember' where he left her.

He walked into a Garda station in Dublin at 2am on Saturday, October 21 to tell officers he didn't know where she was - eight hours after he lost her.

The incident saw Garda cars from all over the Irish capital drafted into a search for the baby girl. Garda bosses were so worried for the baby’s welfare that they got the force’s helicopter to brave storm force winds to help search for her.A source told Dublin Live: “The operation to find the baby was huge, there were cars from all over the place looking for him in the middle of the night.”The drama is understood to have unfolded at 2am when the panicked father allegedly ran into Clondalkin Garda Station and pleaded for officers to help him.

He said he had taken his daughter at 6pm the night before and didn't know where she was.Sources say Garda experts then managed to ping his mobile phone to the Damastown industrial estate, near Mulhuddart.
