Cynthia Erivo is taking on hosting duties at the upcoming 2025 Tony Awards! The 38-year-old actress was just announced as the host of the 78th annual awards show, celebrating the best of Broadway.
She follows in the footsteps of Ariana DeBose, who hosted the past three shows. Keep reading to find out more… “I am so proud and excited to take on this glorious honor,” Cynthia shared in a statement, via Variety. “I am looking forward to ushering the theater community at large through a night that celebrates the wonderful performances we have witnessed throughout the year.
I hope I can rise to the occasion.” The 2025 Tonys will return to Radio City Music Hall in NYC this year, and are set to air live on June 8th on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Cynthia is a Tony winner herself, having won the Best Leading Actress in a Musical award for her work as Celie in the 2015 revival of The Color Purple.
The actress is also nominated for a Best Actress award at the upcoming 2025 Oscars, which takes place in a couple of weeks.
