The Crown has resumed production after pausing filming in Barcelona for a day out of “respect” for the late monarch. On Friday, show bosses halted filming to mourn Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday afternoon at Balmoral Castle at the age of 96.

It's believed they resumed filming after just 24 hours, but it will be suspended once again on Monday, 19 September, on the day of Her Majesty's funeral service.

A Netflix spokesperson told Mail Online: “Filming will also be suspended on the day of Her Majesty The Queen's funeral.” After news of the Queen's death was confirmed on Friday, showrunner Peter Morgan said: "The Crown is a love letter to her and I’ve nothing to add, for now, just silence and respect.

I expect we will stop filming out of respect too." Creator Stephen Daldry previously spoke about what would happen in the event of the Queen’s death.
