Thick smoke billowed into the sky above Rochdale following a fire at a scrap yard. Firefighters were called out to Hill Street at around 9.30pm last night (September 10).
The blaze affected a building on the site. Four fire engines rushed out to the scene to tackle the flames. Hill Street was closed off while firefighters dealt with the incident.
Engineers from Cadent Gas and Electricity North West were also called out to the scene. A spokesperson for the GMFRS said: “At around 9:30pm (Sunday, September 10), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial premises on Hill Street in Rochdale. "Four fire engines from Rochdale and Littleborough fire stations quickly arrived at the scene, where a scrap yard building had caught fire.
