Hamilton Accies keeper Ryan Fulton has revealed that news of Cove’s Championship demise spread onto the pitch at Arbroath to inspire his side to snatch a play-off spot.
Fulton kept Arbroath at bay with a string of top saves in a 0-0 draw after a gritty Gayfield display from both sides. With Cove Rangers losing 2-1 to Morton, that was enough to see Accies leapfrog their relegation rivals and live to fight another day on goal difference.
Manager John Rankin said events in Cove left him with a ‘stick or twist’ dilemma in the closing stages of the clash with Arbroath.
