A London couple who embraced home swapping after being inspired by the movie The Holiday claim to have saved £20,000 on lavish getaways across the globe.
Paul Hurren, 58, and his partner Phil Brown, 61, consultants living in central London, took up the exchange scheme in 2018. However, their plans hit a snag when Paul suffered a heart attack that August.
Despite this setback, the fathers of three – Charlotte, 29, Daisy, 26, and Peter, 23 – kept welcoming guests to their two-bed flat using HomeExchange.
After Paul's six-month recovery, they were more eager than ever to live life to the fullest. This led them to stay in luxury homes worldwide, including a staffed household in Kenya, allowing them to absorb local cultures and sidestep tourist clichés.
