Manchester council has insisted that more than half of streets in the city were gritted after a morning of chaos on the roads.
There have been a number of crashes reported amid the icy conditions today (November 22). Stretford Road, in Hulme, was blocked this morning after a crash between two buses.
The smash happened at the Hulme Arch Bridge, over Princess Road, at around 8.30am. No major injuries were reported in the crash, though one person is believed to have taken themselves to hospital, the M.E.N understands. It comes after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in Greater Manchester overnight. Flurries of snow were followed by periods of rain, while temperatures plunged below zero.
