After expressing an interest, the producers generously sent a bottle to taste. I found a subtle pine flavour from juniper; it prickles a bit at first with spicy botanicals, smooths out to be slightly sweet, and leaves a floral profile.
I didn’t smell or taste gold, and while it wasn’t obvious whether I should, general conversations with distillers haven’t given me insights on how you’d do that.
So, it’s not clear why I might spend £1,200 on this gin.The brand’s own marketing material suggests the gin “oozes the perfect combination of pure distilled grain spirit and rich botanicals,” but many gins are based on.
