Edward Regan Murphy (born April 3, 1961) is an American actor, comedian, and singer.
Murphy was a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1984. He has worked as a stand-up comedian and was ranked No. 10 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time.
In films, Murphy has received Golden Globe Award nominations for his performances in 48 Hrs., the Beverly Hills Cop series, Trading Places, The Nutty Professor, and Dolemite Is My Name. In 2007, he won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of soul singer James "Thunder" Early in Dreamgirls.
Francine Jamison-Tanchuck has been working on movie and TV costumes for more than 45 years, and now she is being fitted for a lifetime honor.
The Costume Designers Guild said today that she will receive its 2024 Career Achievement Award, which recognizes an individual whose career in costume design has left an indelible mark on film and television.
Jamison-Tanchuck already had been working in TV and film costuming for more than a decade when she made her costume designer feature debut with the 1989 Civil War epic Glory — for which Denzel Washington won his first Oscar — and has amassed more than three dozen credits since.
She is in the awards-season hunt this year for The Color Purple and also worked on such recent pics as One Night in Miami, They Cloned Tyrone and Emancipation.
