Coronation Street favourite Sally Ann Matthews has paid an emotional tribute to her tragic on-screen dad Mark Eden. The "wonderful" 92-year-old died after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's, it was confirmed on New Year's Day.
The actor had been living with the disease for some time, his agent said in a statement. Mark had been in hospital since November and died peacefully in the early hours of January 1.
He was best known for playing Alan Bradley in the ITV soap in the 1980s and is survived by his wife and co-star Sue Nicholls, who plays Audrey Roberts.
Actress Sally Ann had added to the many tributes for the show's notorious villain, who caused chaos on the cobbles in the 1980s.
