The coronavirus vaccine may have to be airlifted into the UK and moved by the Armed Forces in a no-deal Brexit, a Tory minister has confirmed.

James Cleverly confirmed the government is looking at “non-commercial flights” to ensure supplies of the Pfizer jab can continue arriving from Belgium.

Asked if the Armed Forces would be involved, he told BBC Breakfast: “If we need to.” It comes as Boris Johnson prepares to speak tonight to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen after 36 hours of “last roll of the dice” talks.

A trade deal from January 1 is still held up by clashes on fishing, the ‘level playing field’ of EU rules and how any deal is policed in future.
