Coronavirus: Premier League rule states 75% of season does not mean results stand

There is no rule in place stating the Premier League can be deemed complete if 75 per cent of a season is completed, despite social media reports.

The organisation voted to postpone fixtures until April 3 as they combat the spread of COVID-19. This has sparked a debate on whether league leaders Liverpool , sitting 25 points clear, should be awarded the title.

Some have called for the season to be ended now, including West Ham CEO Karren Brady. Most teams have played 29 games this season, which is over 75 per cent of the campaign.

Only Manchester City , Arsenal , Sheffield United and Aston Villa have played less at 28 games (73 per cent). It has seen reports emerge on Twitter that if three quarters of the campaign have been played,
