Routine cardiac surgery has been halted at a hospital in Wales following a coronavirus outbreak. Four wards have had to be shut down at Morriston Hospital following a string of Covid-19 cases.

Swansea Bay University Health Board said ten patients and five staff had tested positive for the virus over the last few days.

The health board said most of the cases emerged in the cardiac services, reports Wales Online. Routine cardiac cases were temporarily suspended, while health bosses prioritise staff to continue to care for emergency and urgent cardiac and cardiology patients.

Four wards have been closed as part of the response to the outbreak. Public Health Wales have been involved, contact tracing is underway, further tests are taking
