Coronavirus: Austerity left NHS 'vulnerable' in virus fight, says Jeremy Corbyn

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said that despite the work of  NHS staff a decade of cuts has made the Covid-19 fightback harder than it needed to be.

Mr Corbyn told Sky's Sophie Ridge on Sunday said healthcare staff are working "unbelievably hard" to tackle the pandemic but the "loss of beds over the last ten years" shows how "damaged" the health service has been He added: "We just have to recognise as a society, austerity has left us a bit vulnerable." "The principle of caring for everybody in society is now absolutely centre stage." Mr Corbyn said he would continue to attend Parliament but urged everyone to follow the Government's advice.
