Coronation Street veteran Sue Cleaver has passed on her "dream" role to an old co-star. Having joined the cobbles as Eileen Grimshaw back in 2001, the 61-year-old took a short hiatus earlier this year from the soap to headline as Mother Superior in the nationwide Sister Act musical tour.The Corrie execs extended a "few months grace" to Cleaver to seize the role, and after a successful UK run, she's returned to the famous street as Eileen Grimshaw.As the Sister Act tour continues, Wendi Peters, familiar to viewers of the soap, is geared up to take over when the production arrives in Liverpool later this month.Peters, who portrayed Cilla Battersby-Brown, mum to Chesney and Fiz, bid farewell to Weatherfield in 2007, making a brief return in 2014.
Post-Corrie, Wendi has captivated audiences in varied roles across multiple TV series including Hetty Feather, Mr Sunshine, Midsomer Murders, and even featured in BBC's Doctors.
The stage version of the Whoopi Goldberg hit is touring to theatres in locations such as Nottingham, Swansea, and Liverpool.
