Coronation Street's Bill Roache, who plays Ken Barlow, has been given three months to clear his debt with HMRC.The 91 year old actor is reportedly waiting for the sale of his home to pay off the remaining balance.
His case was adjourned until June 10. It's not known how much he still owes, but last month it was reported that he had a £546,000 tax bill.
Despite earning about £250,000 a year, the star faced a huge bill in 2018 after investing in a tax avoidance scheme. He was one of 288 people who put money into a plan, with each person putting in about £1.75million on average.
It has been reported that Bill joined this plan in March 2012. This plan was about getting tax breaks from the artificial losses of a company that owned land. This meant the people in the plan could pay less income tax because of these made-up losses, as reported by the Mirror.
