Coronation Street's Alya Nazir star speaks out on 'unexpected' return amid blossoming romance

Coronation Street star Sair Khan has spoken about her character's 'unexpected' return to the cobbles amid a blossoming romance.

The actress recently returned to filming on the ITV soap as Alya Nazir. Sair took a break from the cobbles after she announced that she was expecting her first child last December.

She kept much of her pregnancy out of the spotlight and as her temporary Corrie exit scenes aired on-screen, the new mum confirmed her son's arrival in May.

She said at the time: "He’s here! ...Our little boy is just marvellous. Very serious and curious about the world. He’s super strong and so resilient for joining me on the absolute rollercoaster that was our 22 hours of labour."
