Coronation Street's DS Lisa Swain actress jumps to defence of co-star in 'mamma bear' moment

Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has jumped to the defence of her young co-star in a 'mamma bear' moment. The actress is much-loved among fans for playing DS Lisa Swain in the ITV soap.

Those who watch the long-running show were delighted earlier this year when Vicky revealed she'd been made a regular cast member of the street, making way for Lisa to become a huge part of Weatherfield life - as well as a love interest for Carla Connor.

Her family has since been expanded with the arrival of troublesome teenage daughter Betsy Swain who quickly found herself tied up with groomer Joel Deering, leading to Lisa being forced off the case when he was killed, and is now behind a shock robbery at Underworld which has left Carla fighting for her life. Asked how Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy, was getting on at the event in the summer, she said: "She's doing really well. I love working with her. "She's growing every day and she's learning every day." She added: "She's just a beautiful soul and an absolutely terrific young actress so I'm really exciting to see how the story evolves between the two of them [Lisa and Betsy]." Now, Vicky has jumped to the newcomer's defence after it was revealed Sydney has been nominted in the 'Best Soap Newcomer' category at the TV Choice Awards 2025 alongside Corrie co-star Jack Carroll, who plays Bobby Crawford.
