There were emotional scenes in the ITV soap when Billy discovered what Paul had been secretly planning. Last week, there was a heartbreaking moment when Paul suggested to Todd Grimshaw that he wanted to make the choice when his life comes to an end as his Motor Neurone Disease symptoms progress.
As viewers returned to Weatherfield, the conversation continued with Todd unwilling to help his friend take his own life. Undeterred, Paul set about his plan to get stronger drugs from his GP.
But Dr Gaddass didn't prescribe any more medication and left Paul turning to former drug addict Abi Webster. Paul asked Abi if she had any connections that could help him secure the drugs to end his life when the time came.
