Concerns over task force fighting to save East Kilbride Rolls-Royce workers from the axe

East Kilbride’s biggest employer, 545 East Kilbride residents are now facing redundancy just three years after the firm transferred 600 workers out of the town to that site.

To be led by the First Minister, a Scottish Aerospace Task Force has been started – but Labour leader Richard Leonard said Nicola Sturgeon is not working closely enough with the right trade unions.During First Minister Questions last week, he also asked what is being done to secure the 545 jobs under threat.Ms Sturgeon replied that: “If there is a concern about the membership of the task force, we will try to address that.“There is no interest for the Scottish government not to have everybody involved in a collective effort.”The First Minister said she spoke personally.
