Coffee shop boss has 'mixed emotions' as new owners take charge

It is the end of an era for Alloway’s Poet’s Corner as new owners are set to take over this week.Marna Ferguson, who has run the coffee shop for the last decade, has called time on her tenure as she passes over the business to family friends from the Backstreet Kitchen.

The popular venue has welcomed many guests in the past 11 years including famous faces and a royal visit from the future King Charles in 2021.

Posting on Facebook, Marna thanked her loyal customers for helping to make Poet’s Corner more than just a coffee shop.She said: “This decision comes with mixed emotions as I reflect on over a decade of serving wonderful customers who now we call friends.“Poet’s Corner is not only a coffee shop, it has been a hub where friends, families and individuals gather to make life long memories whilst enjoying delicious home cooked food.“I am immensely grateful for the continued support and loyalty of our regular customers, who have become like family.

Your smiles, stories and shared experiences have enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined.“The dedication of my incredible team has been the backbone of the success.
