A civil servant today reveals the horrific racist abuse she got after joking to colleagues: “It always rains in Wales.” Anne Giwa-Amu, 59, spoke out after being awarded almost £250,000 in a high-profile legal dispute with the Department for Work and Pensions.
She said she had been left on the verge of a nervous breakdown and now wants to move away to escape bigotry. Anne, 59, who began working for the DWP in 2017, won a race and age discrimination case after bullying by co-workers.
The tribunal heard problems started after Anne, who has Nigerian heritage on her dad’s side, remarked on the dismal weather at their office in Caerphilly.
