Celebrity doctor Christian Jessen has been ordered to pay Arlene Foster £125,000 in damages after accusing her of having an extra-marital affair in a now-deleted defamatory tweet.

In December 2019, the 44 year old shared a tweet that made the unfounded claim that Northern Ireland's First Minister was cheating on her husband of 25 years with a protection officer.

After Arlene undertook libel action against the television media earlier this year, the judge has now ordered Christian to pay for her damages and all of Foster's legal costs linked to the case.

After making the ruling from the High Court in Belfast, Mr Justice McAlinden said the hefty payout was to ensure that Arlene was thoroughly vindicated of adultery claims.
