Selena Gomez‘s defence in the aftermath of the White House’s response to her posts on the recent immigration raids.Last week (January 27), Emilia Pérez star and singer Selena Gomez posted an Instagram story, recording herself in tears saying: “All my people are getting attacked … the children.
I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise”.Her post came a day after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported a record 956 people arrested after President Donald Trump took aggressive action over immigration in the country, signing a number of executive orders to implement his plans.Following Gomez’s post, a Republican authority figure poured scorn on her tearful response to US President Donald Trump’s deportation measures, telling her to “go to congress”.
Trump’s border czar Tom Homan reacted to the video by saying: “We’re gonna do this job, and we’re gonna enforce the laws of this country.
If they don’t like it, then go to congress and change the law”.Republican former Senate candidate Sam Parker also gave a hostile response to Gomez’s words, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “Deport Selena Gomez”.
