FKA twigs has a special guest on her new album: North West. The 37-year-old singer’s latest studio album, Eusexua, arrives on Friday (January 24) and features a song called “Childlike Things,” and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian‘s 11-year-old daughter is featured on the track, providing a Japanese verse! Keep reading to find out more… “Where the wild things are I will be / Lost in a world of childlike things and fantasies,” FKA twigs declares in the song. “Konnichiwa, watashi no namae wa nōsu chan / Kariforunia kara tōkyō / iesu sama ōsama / Kamisama shōsan / Iesu wa yuītsu no shin no kami,” North West says. (Translation: “Hello / My name is North-chan / California to Tokyo / Jesus king / God is praise / Jesus is the only true god.” Rolling Stone UK calls it “a sprightly J-pop song with Japanese lyrics rapped by Kim and Kanye’s daughter North West…a bizarre misstep on the album,” while Financial Times calls it a “cartoonishly cutesy J-pop-influenced affair.” The Quietus says “it sticks out on an otherwise sophisticated album, and is just plain annoying.” Read the lyrics and listen inside.
