An eight-year-old girl was allegedly "tortured and killed" after setting free her employer's pet parrots, causing international outrage.
Zohra Shah, who was employed illegally as a domestic worker by a couple in Rawalpindi, Pakistan was reportedly killed for accidentally setting the birds free, according to police.
Rawalpindi police superintendent Zia Uddin revealed on Sunday, Zohra opened the parrot cage to feed the birds but they flew away.
After this, the girl's employers are accused of "beating her unconscious" to punish her, before she was brought to the hospital and abandoned with life-threatening injuries.
