Chiefs fans are used to the cold, but not this kind of cold. Temperatures for Saturday night’s AFC Wild Card matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins could be the coldest ever in which either team has played.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Warning for portions of Kansas, and the temperature at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium is expected to dip at kickoff time to -2 degrees, with the wind chill dropping it to -21.
That’s having an impact on ticket prices. Yesterday, the Kansas City Star published a story noting that resale ticket prices for the cheapest seats had fallen to $50 a game.
That’s unheard of for a playoff game, especially one featuring the defending Super Bowl champions at home. Today, as the weather forecast worsened, ticket prices plunged to $34 and, as of this moment, to just $30 on Ticketmaster.
