There can be no accusations of a lack of ambition over the summer at Chelsea. Roman Abramovic sanctioned a transfer spend in the region of a quarter of a billion pounds as the likes of Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech arrived to bolster Frank Lampard’s first-team squad.
If reports are to be believed, the spending mightn’t stop there, with further new recruits tipped to walk through the door at Stamford Bridge in the mid-season January transfer window.
But there’s also the prospect of senior players looking to depart the club, having seen their playing opportunities diminished following the extra competition for Lampard’s best 11.
