Ange Postecoglou is adamant he will take no big-game Celtic gambles over returning World Cup hero Josip Juranovic. The Croatian is due back at Lennoxtown in the next 24 hours following his week-long post-Qatar break.
Juranovic, who is at the centre of mass transfer interest, left the Middle East nursing an injury which caused him to miss the third place playoff win over Morocco, and Postecoglou insists he’ll need to be closely assessed ahead of two huge imminent away games against Hibs and Rangers. The right-back is unlikely to make Easter Road on Wednesday and his manager is clear he won’t be used at Ibrox a week today either if he’s not fully tuned up.Despite fitness concerns over Anthony Ralston and the ineligibility of Canadian Alastair Johnston for the match in Leith, Postecoglou won’t rush Juranovic as he said: “We’ll get him back in.
He’s had a slight injury, so we’ll see how he is.“It’s unlikely he’ll be available for Hibs, but we’ll see. Until we set eyes on him, we’ll see what condition he’s in.
We won’t throw him back in unless he’s absolutely ready to go.”Johnston, who has been training with the first team for the past fortnight since signing from CF Montreal, can play at Ibrox, but not at Easter Road with his registration not in place until January 1.
