Celtic superfan Sir Rod Stewart has blasted supporters who disrupted the minute’s silence at Parkhead on Remembrance Sunday.

And the singer told the Record he wouldn’t be able to explain the behaviour to his sons.Just before kick-off against Aberdeen – a game won 6-0 by the league title holders – both sets of players and the majority of fans paid their respects to the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces. But in a live TV match broadcast globally on Sky Sports, a section of the home support could clearly be heard booing – much to the disgust of Rod, who was watching at home in Los Angeles. In an exclusive interview with the Record, the veteran rocker said: “I’m back in the States to work in Vegas and I got up at 6am on Sunday to watch the team I love.“I switched on the telly only to be greeted with boos and jeers around the stadium during the otherwise impeccably observed silence for Armistice Day.

I was absolutely disgusted.”The Maggie May singer added: “What possible excuse do these so-called fans have for this sort of undignified behaviour? Do these people not realise that Scots, Irish, Welsh and English – along with the rest of our Allies – fought and died side-by-side in two world wars to protect their freedom?“I love Celtic, I love the fans and I love my regular trips to the stadium but on Sunday I hung my head in shame.
