Brendan Rodgers faces a major problem at left back with Greg Taylor ruled out due to a calf strain in a position that has been identified for some time as one that needs strengthening.Plenty of punters have felt they could upgrade on Taylor but even those who believe that is harsh on the ex Kilmarnock defender certainly reckon a better deputy is needed - a point made by ex Celtic striker hero Chris Sutton in his latest Record Sport column. That will be highlighted when Ross County visit the east end of Glasgow by the fact Alexandro Bernabei - signed for just short of £4 million from Argentinian outfit Lanus - won’t be the obvious choice to fill Taylor’s boots and instead Brendan Rodgers could shift Liam Scales out of his central defensive slot and into the left back area.
However, Bernabei did take to Instagram to post about the Staggies clash which hints he might well get the nod from Rodgers despite not starting all season.A home game against the struggling Highlanders - they have lost four in a five-game winless run - might suit Bernabei with his attacking qualities.
However, with tough tests to come on the road at Pittodrie and Easter Road then it might make sense for Scales to get a runout in preparation for those matches.Celtic fans will be hoping to get a glimpse of their new, and so far only, winter signing Nicolas Kuhn but will the German be handed a start or will Liel Abada see his name on the team sheet after Rodgers included him on the club’s ‘not for sale’ list alongside Matt O’Riley.
