The new season of Celebrity Race Across The World will air on BBC One tonight after its initial launch was pushed back. The series, which sees four famous faces and their family members travel from Africa to the Arctic, was due to debut earlier this month.

But it was pulled by BBC bosses after an earthquake in Morocco killed nearly 3,000 people. The programme, which was filmed earlier this year, features Morocco's city Marrakesh in its opening episode so producers felt it was best to put off the season premiere.

In a statement, the BBC said: "The BBC has announced that in light of the earthquake in Morocco, the first episode of Celebrity Race Across the World will be postponed. "We of course started off our journey in Marrakesh – it’s a beautiful city and we were so warmly welcomed by everyone during filming.

Our hearts go out to the people of the country, and our thoughts are with them." The four stars taking on this season's epic feat include McFly drummer and former Strictly Come Dancing winner Harry Judd, ITV weatherman Alex Beresford, All Saints star Mel Blatt and racing driver Billy Monger.
