Carol Kirkwood and Naga Munchetty's BBC Breakfast 'feud' and why they say it's just 'banter'

Naga Munchetty and Carol Kirkwood are two of the most famous faces on breakfast TV.The BBC Breakfast icons both have a wealth of experience in their fields, as news and weather reporters, and work hard to keep BBC viewers entertained and in the know day in day out.

But there have been instances picked up on by fans over the years which have convinced them there is a rift behind the scenes between the two stars - which both have strenuously denied, putting it down to jokes between colleagues.

Carol, 61, has previously weighed in on her relationship with Naga, 48, after viewers picked up on various examples of 'tension' between the pair.The Scots broadcaster shrugged off claims of a rift and says their on-screen exchanges are just 'banter'.Fans were up in arms during one episode of the morning news show last year, when it was claimed Naga aimed an “inappropriate” comment to the Scots star, as Naga’s co-host Charlie Stayt introduced her weather segment.

Naga had been discussing a report about a police dog with Charlie, who Charlie had said there was “no messing” with. As Carol appeared with her own report, Naga then said: “Another person you just don't, don't, don't - just don't mess with, is Carol Kirkwood.” Carol took the joke in good spirits and replied: “Thank you Naga.
